The Economy Rework 1 (v.0.4.0)


Patch Note:

Big Changes:

  • A rework of the Economy has begun. Resources are now accumulated up to a certain limit when producing. The limit is increased slightly when assigning the corresponding Production and decreased when hiring Units. This will allow you to strategically gather resources for war, as well as spend them on something other than Units.
    • A better balance of incomes and costs of the Productions.
    • Increased the cost of Units in Gold and slightly in Resources.
    • All costs and incomes in Gold have been multiplied by 10. Thanks to this, it is now possible to fine-tune the economy better.
  • Improved resource panel.
    • Now, income growth indicators count real dynamics, not just comparing the current amount of Resource with the previous turn.
    • Added a counter showing the specific change in Resource per turn.
  • Assigning Characters to Regions. Some Characters can now be assigned to Regions (if they meet the requirements), so that the efficiency of Regions is increased and Characters slowly regenerate their health.
    Note that they will not be able to participate in battles for other Regions - only in the one they are in.


  • New Characters.
    • "The Wild Boy" Hero.
     

    • "A Wolf" Unit.
  • Improved visuals of Character Ability icons. The icons of some Abilities will now show the damage/heal applied, as well as showing the required Action Points as circles.
  •   
  • Updated preview of the Regions. Now not only their Bonuses are shown above the Regions, but also the assigned Productions (yay!!!) and assigned Characters. These can be switched off if you need to.

    • Also, for all these ‘magnifiers’, a tooltip with the name of the magnifier and its new status (on/off) will be displayed when switching it.
  • Added Random Events. They occur every few turns, giving a choice of two options. Depending on the option chosen, some relevant Resources will be gifted or spent, but it is not known in advance which ones. This is the first version of the events so far, to test something out...
  • Character Balancing.
    • The Merchant now steals 100 Gold, not 10 (new pricing).
    • A Secret Police Agent will now deal damage to a Character on Mistake even if that Character had a Shield (but the damage will be lowered).
    • Characters are the centre of gameplay, but they were dying quickly. Therefore, the Health Points for all Heroes and Leaders were increased by three.
    • The cost of healing is now calculated dynamically for each Defence Point lost. Depending on the Character, the cost per point may vary.

Tweaks, Balance and Other changes:

  • Improved the spawning of Countries: no longer will they start too close to each other.
  • Added dialogue boxes to confirm particularly important actions such as ‘Abandon Region’ or ‘Retreat’.
  • The camera can now be moved by bringing the cursor to the edges of the screen - in addition to WASD.
  • Improved tutorials. Small sidenotes have been added for some contextual clues instead of input-blocking tutorial screens. Large tutorial screens remain, but only for the most important information.
  • The icons of the Region's Production and Bonus icons have been redrawn. They now fit more by association and are easier to distinguish between them.
  •        
  • The name of the Country of the respective Leader has been added to the Conversation Screen.
  • Sad, but The Protector's clone that the Player used to have has been removed. Now, as it is supposed to be, he serves only The Uniter. The role of the default Hero for the Player is now fulfilled by The Wild Boy - also temporarily.
  • By the way, the Protector's art on the Character panel during the battle has been moved so that his staff doesn't block the Field :)
  • Fixed a bug that caused Hero ‘’The Accomplice (Defector)‘’ to speak in phrases of Hero ‘’The Accomplice (General)‘’
  • Changes for exhibitions: Yes, more and more often I find myself with my stand at an exhibition. So I added a few features for myself, but you might find them useful too:
    • Quickly create a new profile. Now you can leave the profile name empty, then it will be created with the name of the Windows username, just like the main profile.
    • Added a button to open a folder with saves in the Settings menu.
  • Fixed a bug where an AI Leader with the last Region in a Country would attack a player and 100% of the time go into battle themselves, even if they had the last Health Point. They just thought it wasn't them being attacked, but they were attacking the player.
  • Added support for voiceovers for damage and healing during battle. So far, however, only The Wild Boy has it.
  • A full title screen has been added. It will be updated as development progresses.
  • Slightly tweaked the AI for Leaders.
    • Logic of buying Units: the chance depends on the turn count. Because it doesn't make sense for them to buy Units on the first turn - at that time, they need to spend money on expansion.
    • Now an AI Leader cannot defeat another AI Leader. This is a temporary change, until there are mechanics that make such a plot twist interesting and useful, rather than taking away the joy of victory from the player...


* Changes have been made that may not be compatible with the old save files, so they may be deleted when you start the game or cause some features to break when loading an old session. Or maybe they don't. In the future, save files will be more stable.
